Like VCR tapes were to pornos, zines were once the centre of the indie world, lending a voice to the countless underprivileged and oppressed middle-class-well-educated white kids that never had the chance to show the world their sparkle.
The 80s and 90s were the golden age for these zines, however with the creation and implementation of a complex network of tubes known as the “Inter-net”, zines began to see their apathetic and disinterested audience move away from print-based media to become an apathetic and disinterested audience on the web.
Bizoo was one such zine which helped define Brisbane’s indie art and music scene before its mysterious and untimely end. Now a book has been written about the Bizoo years and 4ZZZ wants to celebrate by holding a retrospective cum zine fair in their lovely car park on St Paul’s Terrace.
There’ll be a bunch of local writers, zine makers, comic designers and indie creators at the fair, as well as DIY workshops and hands on activities to coincide with the festivities. Best of all, there’s going to be a bunch of bands on from 3pm - 6pm.

Zine Fair & Workshops from 10:30am – 2:30pm Bands from 3pm – 6pm
